What is Spotify for Authors?
Spotify for Authors (SfA) officially launches on August 1, 2025. It's a spinoff from FindawayVoices by Spotify. Basically, effective that date, FindawayVoices by Spotify splits into two distinct services: Findaway Voices by INaudio (handling audiobook distribution) and Spotify for Authors (focused on tools, analytics, distribution, and marketing for authors within the Spotify ecosystem).
Why You Should Care
- Reach millions. Spotify boasts 678 million users globally, including 268 million paid subscribers. It’s a massive, untapped audience.
- Fresh discoverability. Spotify’s push into audiobooks helps you stand out more than on crowded platforms like Audible.
- Passive income. Once published, audiobooks keep rolling in royalties—even while you sleep.
- Higher royalties. If you sign up for an SfA account, you’ll earn a 50% royalty share on every audiobook sold or streamed on Spotify — significantly higher than the industry standard.💰 It’s a direct way to earn more while keeping control over your content.
Tools Available Inside Spotify for Authors
GROWTH Tools (for marketing)
Just like Amazon KDP, you can create audiobook author profiles. This is great because it allows you to build your author brand with headshots, bios, and direct social links within SfA.
You can also create Spotify Promo Cards and generate Spotify Redemption Codes, which you can use for marketing your audiobook titles.
INSIGHT Tools (to know your audience)
View data on listening time, audience demographics, location, and even podcast preferences of your listeners over the past 365 days. Use these insights to refine your marketing and future books.
PUBLISHER Tools (for catalog management)
Success isn’t just about one audiobook — it’s about building a thriving catalog! Once you have multiple titles, staying organized is key. Spotify’s Publisher Tools let you track performance, view royalty reports, and monitor audience growth across all your audiobooks, all from one central dashboard.
